About Munchkins

Munchkin cat is a cat the main characteristic of which is to have very short legs. Munchkin is in the cat that the basset is in the dog. His  small size does not arise from genetic manipulations, it is the fruit of a natural transfer. This peculiarity makes of him a cat of inside exclusively. Indeed, he would be dangerous even fatal for him to meet itself in front of a predator (dog, fox, or the other bigger and faster cat).


Its origin The munchkin is a recent race. It is in 1983 when a breeder of Louisiana, Sandra Hochenedel, collected a black cat in the short legs, named Blackberry ; this one gave birth to several kittens among which half possessed the transfer of the small legs. All current Munchkins would come down from Blackberry.
The TICA and the LOOF recognize Munchkin as separate race.
Its morphology The main caractérisque of Munchkin is the small size of its legs.

Its morphology The main caractérisque of Munchkin is the small size(cutting) of its legs. For the rest, he can look like any sorts of cats in version "basset", there is Munchkins with long or short hairs.
Munchkin has no recognized specific disease to my knowledge. He(it) aged very well.

Its character Munchkin is considered as keeping(preserving) its character of kitten in the adulthood. He(it) is is player, friendly with the other animals.
He does not like being alone, the life in group is well to him(her). He(it) is very attached to his boss. He is a magnificent playfellow for the children and the great confidant! He(it) does not escape my theory on the cat: " any domestic cat which is born has a heart in the form of refrigerator!! ". And yes, it is necessary to see him(it) rubbing itself there lovingly!!! There is thus no doubt, it is a cat, the truth!!! His(her,its) small size(cutting) does not prevent him(it) from courrir, from climbing on furniture, from making stupidities also!!! And yes, obviously have legs more

The Napoleon is a new race which ensues from Munchkin. You wonder what differentiates Munchkin and Napoleon, then?

It is Munchkin crossed with a Persian, a Himalayan (version coulourpoint of the Persian), or Exotic Shorthair. The Napoleon will be basically a short cat on legs with a long, sweet fur as the Persian or the Himalayan or a fur sweet and short as that of Exotic Shorthair. He(it) thus exists in two versions: short hairs and long hairs. All the colors are admitted(supposed). The head is different from that of Munchkin, it is more round, wide with big and round eyes and small ears. The nose must be short without stop. Personally, I prefer cats stemming from crossings with Persians of the type doll face. (Contrary to the current Persians who have the more flat face, the crushed nose and the more spread(more pushed aside) eyes). Indeed, the Napoleon does not have to have the extreme face, the "face" must be soft and harmonious.

 As Munchkin, the Napoleon is a player. To play, catch the flies, or make the curious for the window, he(it) sits down on his(its) legs rear, in the style of the rabbit, of the squirrel or still of the suricate!!! Too good-looking!!! He(it) likes his boss, gets marvelously with the children. His(her,its) character is golden, a true cream. And biensûr, as any cat which respects itself, the best place(square) of the house is reserved for him(her): the braid! (That she(it) is authorized or not by the boss, moreover!)
